Les voies de l’art Association

Les voies de l’art is the successor to the association VIA Paris and continues its nonprofit mission to promote artistic events that foster intercultural exchanges. Founded by curators, artists, and cultural mediators, the association follows in the footsteps of the scholar François Cheng, who has always explored the artistic collision of different cultures. The name of the association, Les voies de l’art, was personally given by François Cheng.

For over a decade, as VIA Paris, the association has curated and organized numerous artistic events, including exhibitions, artist residencies, conferences, and screenings, primarily in Paris, but also in other French cities, across Europe, as well as in China and the United States.

At the end of 2023, in order to create a fresh momentum, the association made the decision to consolidate its resources and establish a permanent space, shared under a partnership with the espace temps art gallery. This new identity, Les voies de l’art, aims to create a vibrant meeting place for artistic exchange, fostering more ambitious, regular, and relevant projects.

As part of its mission, the association is particularly committed to archiving the research documents, manuscripts, and correspondence of François Cheng. This endeavor ensures the proper conservation of his work and supports both the presentation and research needs related to his profound legacy.

Je, soussigné François CHENG, membre de l’Académie française, donne mandat à l’association « Les Voies de l’art » pour gérer un ensemble de mes archives ayant trait à l’art. Celles-ci se composent de quatre séries suivantes :

 

  • Mes propres créations calligraphiques comportant une soixantaine de pièces.
  • Les livres d’artiste réalisés par les peintres avec mes poèmes.
  • Les monographies et de nombreux textes sur les grands peintres rédigés par moi et publiés sous forme d’album ou de brochure.
  • Les manuscrits de mes écrits sur l’art.

 

Ces archives ont surtout pour but de permettre aux personnes intéressées de connaître de façon plus globale et plus à fond ma vision de l’art.

I, the undersigned François Cheng, member of the Académie française, hereby authorize the association Les Voies de l’art to manage a collection of my archives related to art. These archives consist of the following four series: 

  • My own calligraphic works, comprising around sixty pieces.
  • Artist’s books created by painters using my poems.
  • Monographs and numerous texts on great painters, written by me and published in the form of albums or brochures.
  • Manuscripts of my writings on art.

The primary purpose of these archives is to offer interested individuals a more global and in-depth understanding of my vision of art.
